Remove signatures and stop the automatic verification

Hello,

When I opened a pdf to edit I mistakenly selected something to do with verify signatures ( I also clicked the check box to always do this) I cannot now edit my pdfs. It states that I am viewing a signed version and all editing functions have been disabled. I really need to remove this and remove the automatic verification so that I can edit my pdfs. I have tried “save as” and renamed the document but it still will not let me edit the new saved document. I have also uninstalled Acrobat Pro and then reinstalled it, deleted the PDF and reloaded it from my email to no avail.

Well, for anyone who is interested,

After discussing the problem with Adobe Support for half an hour, who insisted there was nothing I could do as the document and all earlier version (everywhere) were locked, not sure how that could happen though.

I discovered myself that if I export the pdf to word, delete the signature in the top left hand of the page with a small anchor next to it and then save it as a pdf with a changed name. I can then reopen it with Adobe and carry out my edit. I might of just had someone from support who is unfamiliar with their products.

They were not incorrect. What you did is basically create a completely new version of the file, which is not signed.

If you applied the signature, though, then you could have also removed it by right-clicking the signature field and selecting "Clear Signature". That would have reverted the file to an earlier version, which could then be edited. It's not possible to edit a signed document, though. That's the entire point of a digital signature...

I understand that "Try67", but the clear signature was greyed out (???? not sure why as it was me who signed it) and they said I couldn't export it because it was locked down and there was basically nothing I could, I was frantic as I was lead to believe that I had possibly lost many man hours of work and would have to start the document again from scratch, using cut and paste or re-doing the whole thing. I just wanted the document back such that edits could be made, even if that meant creating a new file but with all the relevant data. But I was told it could be done until I tried it myself.

Anyway, I am very happy I have all the data that can be edited; as they say, you learn a lot from silly mistakes.
