Removing/Replacing Shadowed Text from Scanned doc to Adobe Pro DC

I scanned a document to Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. When I select edit and delete the text box or remove the text in its current text box, it looks like a faint shadow of what was there before. When I add a new text box or just backspace the older text and replace it, the older text looks like it is still there in the background. Like a bad eraser or shadow. 

Is there anyway to cleanly remove text from a scanned document?
