replace text in "improved" acrobat (2023, Mac)

why is it now impossible to click on a word and replace it with a suggested word? I am editing a document for a professional journal - it's ridiculous to replace a word completely. Two examples:

(1) add -al on to the word 'biologic'

(2) replace the word 'relative' with 'comparative'

BOTH cases need to be suggestions only.

 

this used to be very easy, but now??

Ah OK, these are just comments that indicate which text needs to be replaced by the editor. They don't actually change anything in the file, and they can't be "applied", either.

As far as I know they should still be there. If they're not try disabling the new Acrobat UI. To do so click the Options button at the top left corner (Windows) or open the View menu (Mac) and select Disable New Acrobat.

Do you mean adding a Replace Text comment, or actually editing the existing text?

Acrobat never had a feature to apply a suggested change, like Word does, as it's really not that type of editor.

old acrobat has a T with a small caret for inserting a word, symbol, letter, etc. It also has a crossed out T with caret, for replacing an entire word. Where are these now? I find I can replace a word, but there is no record of the word I have replaced. This is not acceptable for editing for a professional journal. Thank you.
