Restore original link after replacing new file

Question

I have a file link on Adobe Acrobate that is linked to a QR code. I made some updates and replaced the file. But now the QR code has a pop up box that sais "link was unsahred or delted. Contact owner." I would like to recover the original link. Is there a way to do that?

How is the QR code linked to the file? Are we talking about the PDF file itself, or are we talking about a file attachment embedded in the PDF file? Where is the PDF file located? If the file is a link, is the file embedded with the PDF? Or is it in a file location that's referenced by the QR code? Has the file been moved?

I ask, because the most bulletproof way to link your QR code to a file link is to reaccomplish the task, test it to ensure it works, then leave it all be. Is there a reason why that workflow wouldn't be feasible?
