"Retain Original Color for Signature" setting in Adobe Acrobat Pro 2024

Where is the "Retain Original Color for Signature" setting or equivalent in the new Adobe Acrobat Pro (version 2024.001.20615)? I want my graphic signature to insert with the original color in the image, not to change to one of the 18 preset colors in the Adobe color palate. This used to be an option before; but in this newer version of Adobe Pro it seems to have been replaced with "Keep signatures black," -- a pointless option since you can already set the color of whatever object you're about to insert (including a signature) through that very setting. The other option -- to create a signature form field and insert a graphic or graphic/text combo image using your file -- also isn't perfect because it shrinks the signature to the size of the field, and increasing the size of the field results in covering overlapping content under the image because you don't have the option to arrange the signature image to the back. The closest workaround seems to be to insert the image file through "Edit a PDF," but then Adobe doesn't recognize the file as having been signed so it won't automatically prevent further editing. So, is there a way in the latest Adobe Pro (2024) to insert a signature in the original color of the image in a way that also allows one to adjust the size, location, and arrangement of the signature image?

I am dealing with this problem too.  Yesterday, I was signing 10 pdf documents in a row with my custom e-signature (which is dark blue).  Then for some reason, on pdf document 7, the e-signature feature changed color and width.  Instead of looking like my signature in dark blue, the image was black and thicker, more like the signature was written with a marker than a pen.  The feature allowed me to select from pre-set fill and sign colors or keep black.

I would like my original signature image back.  If you know a way to get Adobe Pro to insert a signature in the original color of the image in a way that also allows one to adjust the size, location, and arrangement of the signature image, please share the instructions.  Thank you.

Hi rhea_5944,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

Please let us know how you received the document for signature and the steps you used to add the signature. Have form fields been added to the PDF form?

If you can share the screenshot for reference, it will help us understand the issue. Please share the application and OS version number on the machine.

Let us know if you need any help.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

This is very annoying as I have the exact same issue - the look of the signature changed from one document to the next. The first 3-4 documents I was signing were perfectly fine as they had been for the last few years; all of a sudden on the 5th document the signature changed colour and thickness. There was NO WAY of getting the original signature back.

Signature was added via the fill & sign tab and selecting an image - this has worked for YEARS ! So what happened ? For me, this happened a couple of months ago, maybe sometime in November 2025.
