"Save As" recently clears file name out when using a decimal in the name

Recently Acrobat has started a strange behavior of clearing out the entire file name when I try to use a decimal as part of the file name. For example, when I have a new document, and I click Save As, I start typing the file name, and if I type a decimal, the next time I type a space after that decimal it clears out the entire name.
So - “Test - 1234 - Testing - 1.99 “ As soon as I type the space after the “99” it clears out the entire file name. If I do not type a decimal, there’s no issues.
Is this a bug? It never used to do this prior to a 5-6 days ago when it started.

    Hi Joanne285635391280,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for any trouble this has caused.

We attempted to replicate the issue on our end, and everything appears to be working fine. Could you please provide a short video demonstrating what happens when you try to save the PDF with a decimal in the filename? This will assist us in replicating the behavior and resolving the issue.

Additionally, please share the current versions of Adobe Acrobat and your operating system.

Let us know if you need any further help.

    Thanks,

    Meenakshi

It could be a bug. But I suspect strongly that it’s actually a useful feature.

That “decimal” could well be interpreted as the divider between a filename and a suffix in the Windows world. As a consultant who works with clients using Windows and Mac systems — and more than a few of them that use both — errant characters that cause issues in Windows filenames are but one of many banes of my existence.

If Acrobat keeps that from happening in the future, I would consider that a good thing. Even when working on my Mac like I’m doing while tapping out this response to you. Because errant characters I can enter in a Mac filename would cause unnecessary complications for any Windows user I’d work with.

If it’s intentional by Adobe, I’ll just have to learn to live with it. But it has really messed up my workflow. I save tons of receipt files as (Date - Vendor - DollarAmt) to save me from having to open each one for that info when it comes time to submit them. My workaround right now is to save the DollarAmt without the decimal, and then go back to Finder and change the file name to include the decimal. It’s just kind of a big pain to do that for every file.
