Save ink/toner feature in Acrobat Reader DC

Question

I selected "save ink/toner" while printing a PDF (little check box in the top right of the pop up window). Upon seeing that it washed out the document considerably, I un-checked the "save ink/toner" feature so that it would revert back to normal. However weeks later all prints still appear washed out. I've tried everything to resolve this - uninstalling Acrobat Reader DC, uninstalling my printer (HP Envy 6055), resetting to factory settings, etc. and nothing has worked. The only option I am left with is to buy a new printer since this setting seems to have been embedded into my printer somehow.

How is it possible that checking a box in the print screen for a PDF has rendered my printer useless? There must be a way to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

What is yous OS? If Mac, try resetting the printers (system preferences> Printers & Scanners> Right click on printer icon> Reset). Try printing a test page. Check for print driver updates (do a google search using your printer model). Does it work when printing from another application? Try resetting your Reader preferences (reinstalling Reader will not necessarily overwrite your old preferences). Here is a link to older instructions that should still work:
