Hi..Is it possible to change a .pdf to 100% or fit to size as the default when opening and closing?  When I open the doc today it opens at about 54%.

Assuming that Default Layout and Zooming is not a pre-flight customized profile nor a setting that was saved in/with that PDF , I think that there are two preferences settings that may work:

  • Go to Edit-->>Preferences -->> Page Display and see if the Page Layout and Zoom are set to "Automatic". If they are in automatic mode, adjust the Page Layout to Single-Page view and also adjust the Zoom to the desired page Fit(or zoom percentage).
  • You may also want to check "Documents" --->> "Open Settings and tick the  checkbox that says " Restore last view settings when reopening documents"
  • Then close Acrobat and load up the PDF again and see if this time it retains the desired page view settings
