save Screen Tip when converting Word docx to PDF

In MS Word 2010, we can create a hyperlink and give it a 'Screentip' that appears on mouse-hover.

When I save my document as PDF ...... I am losing this screen-tip value ....... and the tool-tip is rather replaced by the actual hyper-link URL.

Is there any way to retain the screen-tip from Word and get the same behavior as how it is there in Word ?

Thanks,

Pat

You can't do that with a Link object. It is possible with a button field, though.

You can set the button to have tooltip text that appears when you hover with the mouse over it, and to open a web-page when clicked.

I don't think you'll be able to automatically convert your existing hyperlinks to buttons, though. You'll probably have to re-do it after creating the PDF.

I use the Microsoft Office 365 Word (2020) and I managed to retain the screeptip of an object when I exported the docx into pdf. At first, it was in hyperlink, and the screentip but it showed different. So what I did was add alt-text to the object (the object here in my docx is a small logo picture [icon]) that was supposed for the sight-impaired but hey, it works. I exported it as pdf and I viewed it in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and it's working. The alt-text of an object (in MS Word) is the screentip for pdf.

I tried to built like explained by Mr. KitCat Whiskers but without success... Is there a special way to export from word to pdf? Or are special settings necessary inside Adobe Acrobat Reader to see the alt-text?

I'm saving it as a PDF in Word. (Save as, Save as type: PDF)

Then you will want to ask your question in a Word support forum. The problem happens when the pdf is created and you are using the MS pdf generator rather than an Adobe product.
