Question

Saving PDF in Acrobat Pro DC Corrupts Some Pages

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC version 2021.005.20060. If I open a pdf all pages are fine. If I then save it some pages are immediately corrupted (the text is rendered unreadable with boxes and other shapes). I never exit Acrobat or perform any editing. All I'm doing is opening the file and then saving it under a new name. As soon as it is saved, the pages appear corrupted. I've run the Repair Installation twice and no change. Any thoughts on how to fix?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out.

As you have mentioned above, the file gets corrupted when you try to save under a new name.

Could you please confirm if the issue occurs with a particualr PDF?

Would it be possible to share the file with us so we can check it at our end?

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I appreciate the quick responses!

The workaround seems to be to save the pdf  with the "Reduce File Size" Box checked.

That is, if I save the file WITHOUT reducing the file size, it is corrupted BUT if I save the file with this option checked  there appears to be no page corruption and it reduces the file size from 12MB to 7MB.

So, while I have a workaround, it seems like this is a bug in Acrobat. Note that I've forwarded the file to Meenakshi for confimation. Please let me me know what you determine.

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks!

Mike

Maybe try by disabling

a couple of things in the Preferences categories.

Go to "Edit"--->>> "Preferences":

  • In the "Documents"  category, see the "Save Settings" section and untick the checkboxes for "Save As optimizes for Fast Web View", and also "Always reduce size for files more thsn 10 MB".
