Scan quick tools don't work

I am using Acrobat Pro 2017 on Windows 11.

I have been scanning documents from my Brother MDF for years without a problem. I recently added the Scan B&W, Scan Grayscale and Scan Colour to my Toolbar. The problem is, they don't do anything. I have no problems scanning if I go through the Tools-Create PDF-Scanner dialogue. It's only the Quick Tools on the Toolbar that don't work.

This might be because your scanner is controlled by a TWAIN driver which has it's own user interface for setting up the scanning. It such constellations there's no way to directly control the scanner from a button in a application.

But it works of I go through the menus. So why would this be any different?

There's no standard which defines how to control a scanner through a twain driver, so every manufacturer can do what ever he wants. In result you sadly cannot have a remote control from an application that work with every scanner.
