Scanned Documents searchable and able to edit?

Hi There,

We are converting our paper files to digital and scanning to Google Drive. We are using a production grade Canon scanner with OCR enabled. When we scan Document  in using PDF/a format, we are able to search the drive and or files and these documents are searchable and come up. However, we are unable to highlight or edit anything in the document itself. When we enable editing and highlighting in the document, then we can no longer search within the document or in folders or drive for that document.

 

If we scan with OCR enabled and in PDF format, the document is not searchable but we can highlight at Cetera in the document.

 

What do we have to do in order to ensure that the document is always searchable within the folder or drive and we are able to highlight and edit if needed?

Hi,

 

Can you describe in more detail the workflow; is this a networked environment at work?

 

Also, can you provide with the Canon model, operating system and Adobe Acrobat version number?

Yes, we receive a document and then the assistant utilizes our Canon DR-G2110 with capture on touch v.4 pro to scan the document in. She then names document on saves it to Google Drive.  

When we scan Documents in using PDF/a format, we are able to search the drive and or files and these documents are searchable and come up. However, we are unable to highlight or edit anything in the document itself. When we enable editing and highlighting in the document, then we can no longer search within the document or in folders or drive for that document.

 

If we scan with OCR enabled and in PDF format, the document is not searchable but we can highlight at Cetera in the document.

 

How to we enable both?

 

Using Adobe Pro DC on Creative Cloud all apps.
