"Scanning cancelled" ???

I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro version 10.1.16 on PC Windows 7 Professional operating system, scanning with an HP LaserJet M1217 mfw MFP via USB connection.  I have been successfully using the "Create pdf from Scanner" function, but now suddenly I'm greeted with the error message "Scanning cancelled".  I tried rebooting the computer and restarting the printer/scanner but no success.

Please try options available under Troubleshooting tips for scanner issues when using Acrobat

Make sure latest scanner drivers are installed.

Also Acrobat X is an older version of Acrobat. So please use trial version of latest Acrobat DC Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC
