scanning creates thumbnail then "Adobe Acrobat DC has stopped working" appears and program freezes

Using Epson V300 scanner and Adobe Acrobat DC, scan runs and produces thumbnail, then freezes with message "Adobe Acrobat DC has stopped working" .
