scroll slow with find window open

Has anyone else noticed that scrolling through a PDF with the (non-advanced) find window open (on the top right) is incredibly slow? It seems more so when there are many annotations, but is never fast even on a clean pdf.

Using DC Pro latest version 2020 and Catalina with MacBook Pro 2016 (but it has always been this way). Slightly faster on a bigger machine (iMac, for ex.), so I think it has to do with the way documents are temporarily cached. Also, with inertial scrolling, the process takes five or more seconds to stop, depending on how much momentum is given to the scroll—until the scrolling action completes, and you cannot interrupt this process. Again, caching?

See if this information about a Plist preference can help:

NOTE : my slide says mentions about "Not lockable" meaning that user can modify it. That could be both good and bad depending on the work environment, but it is worth giving it a shot.

this looks a little hairy to me. I wouldn't know how or dare to alter preference code!

Yes, I agree.

Sometimes some preferences are just set as default during installation.

I learned that recently from digging more in the Enterprise tool kit.

And the only way to change some of the applications behaviors is through Plist editing and as long that Plist preference is not locked.

Otherwise, only administrators can chamge it (also during installation time of the application), where they pass these preferences as parameters to the setup program.

This is achieved using the Adobe Acrobat Customization Wizard, and in some cases with just a simple few lines of shell scripting using the console.

Yes I've noticed this too.

In my case it jitters as wells.

Have you tried disabling/enabling any software rendering preferences, Accessibility settings, enable/disable smooth scrolling, or even assigning a higher priority of memory handling to the Acrobat Pro application through the OS?

Next time try opening the process manager wi dow next to the application and see what is logged in the events of process manager when you run the Find in Acrobat.

Thanks. I am glad I am not hallucinating.

I'll start with raising the cache for Fast Find and then experiment with other variables.
