Question

Self updating pdfs?

I have a weird question. We have several quick reference guides (QRGs) that are comprised of several different at-a-glace guides (AAGs). At this time we are basically recreating each QRG in word then coverting to a pdf. So every time we need to make an update to an AAG, we have to update (recreate) each QRG it is also in. I know we can create a combined pdf using adobe pro. I was wondering if there was a way to create a combined PDF that links from a SharePoint library that will automatically update when a portion of it is updated from the source file? We already presented a document library to the customer, and they did not want that, they want it QRGs to be all in one document. I do not know if this is possible, but I am trying to find out if there is a way. I found a way in PowerApps, but it is very complicated and I would basically have to remake an entire library that more teams use than just ours. I thought I would ask here. Thank you!  I don't even know if this is possible in Adobe.

In theory, yes, but detecting whether the source file is new is tricky and will require embedding a script into it.

Also, you would have to install a script on the machine of each user, and they all have to have Acrobat.

Alternatively, you can use a script to automatically combine files from pre-defined locations and save them as a new file. This could be triggered by a button added to the application.
