Send PDF form without required signature

Hello! I want to send a PDF form, which the user can fill in via the browser as you can do via Adobe Fill&Sign. However there a signature is mandatory. If I don't have a signature field, one is automatically generated. Is it possible to skip this step?

It is important that the recipients of the form do not have to download Acrobat etc. to fill out the form and are able to do it in the browser.

I would also love to have a FILL FORM without the signature. The comments are old, if anyone knows if Adobe has updated this, please let me know. Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your question and sorry for the delayed response:

In Acrobat Sign, you can achieve this by using a Web Form instead of a signature workflow. This allows recipients to fill out the form in a browser without needing to sign it. Here’s how you can set it up:

Option 1: Use Acrobat Sign Web Forms (Recommended)

This method enables users to fill out the form in a browser without downloading Acrobat or signing the document.

1. Log in to Adobe Acrobat Sign.

2. Navigate to “Web Forms” in the left panel.

3. Click “Create a Web Form”.

4. Upload your PDF (make sure it has form fields created in Acrobat or prepare them in Acrobat Sign).

5. Click “Preview & Add Fields”, then:

  • Remove signature fields (if present).
  • Add necessary text fields, checkboxes, dropdowns, etc.

6. Click “Save” and copy the Web Form URL.

7. Share the link with users—they can fill the form directly in the browser.

Pros:

  • No need for users to install Acrobat.
  • Works in a browser.
  • Can be embedded in a website.
  • Responses are saved in Acrobat Sign.

Option 2: Send an Agreement Without Signature

If you want to send the form to specific recipients without requiring a signature, follow these steps:

1. Go to “Send” in Acrobat Sign.

2. Upload your PDF.

3. Click “Preview & Add Fields” and ensure only form fields (not signature fields) are included.

4. Set the recipient role to “Form Filler” instead of “Signer”.

5. Click “Send”—recipients can fill out the form in their browser.

Pros:

  • Ideal for specific recipients.
  • Ensures data is captured securely.
  • No signature is required.

Suggestion: Which Method to Use?

  • If you need a publicly accessible form, use Web Forms.
  • If you are sending it to specific people, use the “Form Filler” role.

Let us know if you have further questions.

You must use Adobe Sign for this type of workflow.

The Adobe Sign that comes with a subscription of Adobe Acrobat Pro DC has limited features so it may be necessary to upgrade to a teams or business plan.

Considering your prerequisites, you seem to be in a situation where using an HTML form seems preferable.

I am having the exact problem.  If this is not an option in ADobe Fill and Sign, can you recommend a way to do this with a different adobe program or process.  I want to send a PDF form, which the user can fill in via the browser as you can do via Adobe Fill&Sign. However there a signature is mandatory. If I don't have a signature field, one is automatically generated. Is it possible to skip this step?

I need the user to be able to fill in the required fields and then maybe just initial (the signature really isn't that important).  Many times we have to edit the forms (client may need to change date, room number, times, etc).  How can we both still edit the form and then sent a notification of the edits?  THank you

Since this was posted over a year ago, has Adobe added the feature of being able to send a form for filling out without a signature required?
