Question

Settings for Form field auto detection

I want to know if I can pre-set the settings for the fields before applying the auto detection and creating a fillable document. I am making fillable participant guides for virtual courses. Currently when I use this feature the fields have the wrong settings and I have to change them one at a time. So instead I create it by adding them one at a time but with the settings I want. This is very time consuming as my guides are very long. The auto detection is not great as it detects fields that are not even fields but I can delete those fairly quickly.

If you want 100% accurate detection it has to be done using a script, for example these (paid-for) tools I've developed that will create text fields from rows of underscore characters, and check-boxes or radio-buttons based on various Wingdings characters. It's also possible to customize these scripts so that the fields it adds have certain properties by default (for example, the font used by the text fields, or the check style of the check-boxes):

You must watch the episode 52 & 53 of this podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-indesigner/id96779509

It is about InDesign but the best pratices apply regardless of the software used.

There are no settings for the field detection.

Thank you for the answer - that is unfortunate but I am glad to finally have an answer.
