Several pdf files replaced

This afternoon, when I opened the app, I discovered that 15-16 of the pdf files were unfortunately replaced with duplicates of a particular file. Those files were previously uploaded to the Document Cloud, and I think this affected those as well. What could be the possible cause for this mishap and how do I recover the files?
