Shared link not active anymore

I shared a link with a customer for comments. They spent severals hours to do that. Then my account was accidentally closed for a few days and the link is not active anymore so I lost the comments. Is it possible to active that link again or get the comments back some other way?

Hi @markus_9939

Thanks for reaching out.

Unfortunately, once your Adobe account is closed, any shared review links tied to that account become inactive because the comments are stored in Adobe’s cloud under your user ID. When the account is deactivated, those assets are effectively orphaned.

Can the link be reactivated?

  • If the account has been restored, the original link cannot be reactivated because the review session is terminated when the account closes.
  • Adobe does not currently offer a way to “revive” expired review links.

Possible Recovery Options

  1. Check if comments were emailed
If reviewers used the “Send comments by email” option, you might find their feedback in your inbox.

  2. Ask reviewers to export comments
If they still have the PDF with comments, they can export annotations via Comments > Export Comments and share the FDF/XFDF file with you.

  3. If the review was hosted on Adobe Document Cloud, we try to retrieve archived data linked to your account. Provided there is:

    • Original link
    • Approximate dates
    • Your restored account details
Note: There are no promises since Adobe doesn't support 'revie' of expired reviews links.
  4. Preventive Tip for Future
Always download a copy of the commented PDF or export comments before closing sessions.
