Question

Shared review, receiving notification of comments -- Is this how it works?

I've used (exclusively) email reviews until now, but want to do some shared reviews as well (have started a couple).

The PDF being reviewed is stored on my employer's server.

All my reviewers are on that network so have direct access to the PDF, and I access via VPN.

I'm only on the VPN infrequently.

I see Tracker preferences to automatically check for new comments (1/2/8/24 hours/Never) and display notifications in the system tray and inside Acrobat DC (I've seen the second one work when a comment was received while I was logged on).

QUESTION 1:

As I read those options, I understand that all the 'logic' for sending/receiving notifications is on the *Tracker* side of things. That is, there is nothing in Reader/Acrobat on the *reviewer's* side that initiates notifications, correct? (The only way I could say that it *could* would be if the pdf stored the initiator's email contact. But just want to be sure :-))

QUESTION 2:

*Is* there any way to receive an email when a reviewer publishes comments to the *shared* review (as stated above, I know I can use email reviews instead, but I want to use *shared* reviews)?

(I saw that question in a different post, the response was to use email reviews, and that was the end of the thread -- unfortunately, that doesn't indicate if there is a way to do it in the *shared* review.)

QUESTION 3:

I'm going to start diving through the forum to check, but are there any particular "gotcha's" of which I should be aware with shared reviews as of Acrobat Pro DC 2015.023.20070 (2015 continuous release)?

I'm trying to get buy-in from my SMEs on using the shared reviews, but if it blows up (e.g. loses comments), I know I'll lose their support (the SMEs).

Thanks!

Adobe has turned into a Gestapo organization with their lifetime bondage payment program and their ability to change  application features, applications  bought years ago.  I used Adobe for ten years and finally, I have quit using their product and gone to buying from another company. Gads, whoever heard of buying a car and having to make lifetime monthly payments ?  Disgusting how they try to bleed people to death, People, go somewhere else before they steal your house and car.

Hi @jaggedpeak I have similar needs with my company. I have spent countless hours figuring out the shared review process with different teams within my company. In a perfect world notifications when people make new comments would be from the notification pane on your computer platform, not in the form of an email. One could easily track certain documents while "muting" others they might not need to keep a close eye on. Thanks and I'll keep an eye and hope that someone answers our questions! !@
