Not that I am aware of did you use the serial number listed on the page next to the Acrobat 8 Professional download?  Did you successfully remove your previous version?

Hi Jeff,

I am having this exact same issue. Every time I try to use Acrobat, it prompts me to download an e-license, which inevitably fails.

I did indeed use the serial number listed on the page next to the Acrobat 8 Pro download.

Previously, I had a trial of Acrobat 11 installed, but it was removed prior to installation of Acrobat 8 Pro.

Thoughts?
