Solution to stop others reversing redactions with software
Hello,
Apparently, there is software on the market capable of reversing redactions, even if the document is password protected. For this reason, my work replaces the redacted text with placeholder characters like “XXXXX” or “YYYYY,” so that if someone manages to bypass the protections, they still cannot see the original content.
Given the sensitive nature of the information we handle, this is a significant concern. We don’t mind using placeholder characters when there’s only a small amount of text to redact, but it becomes quite difficult when redacting larger sections, such as full paragraphs. Additionally, we want to ensure that page numbers remain intact, since decisions often reference specific pages.
Is there a solution for this issue?
Thank you.
