Splitting a large PDF

I have a PDF that is 1.5 GB and 500 pages. When I try to split the pdf to single pages, each pdf is 1.5 GB. How to I split the pdf so each smaller pdf is a smaller size?

How are you splitting the document to single pages?

You can't do that with Adobe Acrobat Reader. Which version of Adobe Acrobat are you using?

After splitting the file try using the Save As command and save the new files under a new name. That should trigger an optimization that could drastically decrease the file-size. If that doesn't help you can try the File - Save As Other - Optimized PDF command.
