Taking forever to open pdf

Ever since my computers updated to the most recent version (22.002.20212), it takes much longer for PDFs to open. It is processing page-by-page. Many of my documents are 21 pages long - and I have to open them multiple times per day... I'm not sure why it's different with this update; it's never happened before. Help?

Why does it take so long to open the Acrobat application in Windows 11?
And when I finally manage to open a document it hiccups saying that the application is not responding?
... I've actually had similar problems on Windows 10...

Every time I have to use Acrobat I prepare a schedule because I know that only 15 to 20 minutes after launching the App it will be working. Then it's fine... unless you need to open a new doc! Then it hiccups and takes a few minutes before I can use it.
I've actually never had any problems with Acrobat on the MacIntosh!
