Taking the good with the bad
Just "upgraded" from Acrobat 9-X to Acrobat DC, and wanted to share a couple comments. FWIW, and while I'm sure the answer will be "sucks for you, but this is the way it is now" I still feel compelled to point out a couple things. The performance is a bit faster for several of my often-used operations, so that's a plus. But... adopting MS's new structures sucks for me, here's a few reasons why.
#1, Power users like myself like keyboard shortcuts. The new structure of things has me clicking more to do less. It used to be a simple matter to select a file, use a keyboard shortcut to invoke a Insert or Replace dialog... now I have to hunt and peck for it. Thanks for nothing.
#2, I'm not a fan of the new file select browser. Probably blame that one on Microsoft because I'm sure your developers adopt their newer software & methods, and this is now the preferred method... YUCK. MS had a good thing going when I could have a simple list of shortcuts on the left, with the option to browse for more being SECONDARY! Now I cannot simply click my desired TEMP subfolder, which was a shortcut... I have to go through the pain of browsing ala MS Explorer full-tree, in several clicks as opposed to one.
#3, why change options from "Fit Page" to "Zoom to Page Level" - again, you've caused me more hunt & peck, and now I also have to select "Edit" because the pulldown option is now something to do with Javascript? And, I still haven't found a way to get Adobe to combine multiple PDFs as "Zoom to Page Level" instead of "Fit Width"!!! WTF good is "Fit Width" when you have a mixture of landscape and profile pages in a collection? I want my default to show the whole page, not a portion!
#4 Replacing Insert and Replace with "Organize Pages" Fair enough, but no keyboard shortcuts; I have to hunt & peck, and when it comes up I have thumbnails?? PLEASE give me back the option of a simple detail view, so I can select my pages easily on the left side, just like the viewing mode where ONE page is displayed on the right. Another drawback to the Thumbnail view is selection of items using combinations of CTRL-select, and CTRL-SHIFT-select do not work properly; things get de-highlighted and highlighted incorrectly in this view!!
Sucks for me, once again, having to change my habits for dubious reasons. Faster program, yet my productivity takes a hit! Programmers... don't they teach you how to program for anything but tablets & phones anymore? Give me back simple easy to read access to MANY options on screen when I'm sitting at a full-size screen working with a real computer, like those of us in the manufacturing documentation world use on a daily basis to work with hundreds to THOUSANDS of documents. Stop hampering my efficiency with "improvements" that are really a matter of opinion.
