Text Becomes Unselectable After Editing in PDF

Hi all! I'm experieincing an issue in Adobe Acrobat where text that is originally selectable becomes unselectable immediately after I edit it.

Here's what happens:

  1. Before making any edits, I can highlight, copy, and selct the text tc without any problems.
  2. After I edit the text (e.g., type something in or modify it), the edited ext is no longer selectable for that entire section it belongs in (e.g., the paragraph).
    • I can't highlight it, copy it, or even click and drag over it with the cursor as I could before.
    • I can, however, still edit the text (add or remove words), just can't select is and make markups

It feels like the text is being converted into an uneditable format (like an image) after I make changes, but all the text above and under it can still be selected.

I've tried checking the settings (security preferences), re-saving the file, and eve re-running OCR, but nothing seems to work. Why does this happen, and how can I fix it so the text remmains selectable after editing.

I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions! TIA!

Hi @tina_4420,

Are you experiencing this problem in one file only or for all files you edit?

Hi Droopy!

I tried testing it on another doc and it seems to be just the file! For context, the file with the issue is from a third-party which I don't know how they originally edited the PDF. The file that I tested and still works is a PDF conversion of a word doc I had worked on.

Thanks 🙂
