text box on page but not in fields list

I was preparing a form when I noticed an additional text box on the page that wasn't in the fields list. When I go to properties it appears to be a duplicate of another field I did create, however, I cannot delete it. I even tried deleting the field it looked like it was duplicating but nothing happens. I can select it, I can look at the properties, I can even get the delete option to come up but it doesn't respond to the delete command.
