Text disappears in Acrobat after manually fixing text reflow

I have a letter mailing which is created in InDesign. I used Data Merge for the variable information. I received a message that there was overflow text on page 435. In Acrobat I manually adjusted the name to 2 lines. Below the text box with the variable text there were 2 lines which said Email with a line and Phone with a line. After manually fixing the name the words Email and Phone disappeared on all 700 letters in the Acrobat file. The lines were still there.

Aside from NOT making the manual change, what can I do to prevent this from happening again?

I am using Acrobat 2025.001 on a Mac with Sonoma OS

@davidm50267749 I would create a new Paragraph Style. If you use the "Keep Options," is another way to manage variable text lengths in data merge projects and prevent the kind of layout issues you experienced. This ensures consistency and avoids the pitfalls of manual post-production edits in Acrobat.

A paragraph style isn't the issue. The customer supplied a PDF for the letter. I placed the PDF into InDesign so I could use Data Merge. The problem is after the merge there was one name which was very long and reflowed. I corrected the return in the merged Acrobat file. For some reason some of the text which was part of the original placed PDF disappeared. I have attached a screen shot showing the stages. We want to eliminate this from happening again. Suggestions?
