Text is only searchable within Edit PDF Tool when there is a background image

I have a pdf file where the text is only searchable when I am using the Edit PDF tool. The text is fully selectable and the fonts are embedded in the file. However outside of the when I'm in the edit tool, I cannot search for any text.

I've found that this problem only seems to occur when there is an image included in the pdf. If I recreate the same file without the background image I can search the text.

Any ideas on how to resolve this problem? I need to retain the image in the final pdf. I am using the adobe acrobat printer to create the pdf.

Hi Angelam

Just out of curiosity, have you gone into Edit mode, made ANY kind of change (e.g., deleting a period and then adding it back) and then did a "Save As..."?

Let us know if that does anything

Yes. I am still not able to search the text. I have found that if I search for text while I am in edit mode I can still search for that exact same text when I leave the tool as long as I do not close the file. However, I still cannot search for another other text.

At this point I'm at a loss and need to hack at it to see what I can see.
