Question

Text issues when converting a Word doc to pdf and when the same file is converted back to word.

Hi, My issue is I have generated a document in Microsoft Word as docx. which I have exported / converted to pdf to send & upload to job sites. The file converts to pdf correctly. My issue is when that pdf file is taken my job sites, email certain texts do not translate corrected, specifically, words appear mispelt. Examples are: 'Lme' appears in place of 'time'. 'ReporLng' in place of 'Reporting' 'funcLons' in plac eof 'functions' All these examples point to the l 'Ti' being replaced with 'L'.  Adobe reviewed the issue in the document I created but they could't fix it. They recommended I 'fix' the incorrect spelling in word when I convert it back to word, which isn't a solition, especially as I am sending the document to 3rd parties.  Has anyone had this issue?

Thanks you

Hello!

I hope you are doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

Please ensure you have the latest version of Acrobat installed on the machine: 25.001.2043x Optional update, Mar 19, 2025. Check for any pending updates from the Menu > help > check for updates, install the updates, restart the app and the machine, and check. For more information, see this: https://adobe.ly/4iRM7An

Check Font Embedding: Before converting a Word document to PDF, verify that the fonts are properly embedded. Go to File > Options > Save > Embed fonts in the file. See this article for more details: PDF fonts, Adobe Acrobat

Use Adobe PDFMaker for Conversion: Adobe recommends using the PDFMaker add-in for Microsoft Word to ensure optimal conversion results. This tool maintains the integrity of your document's formatting during the conversion process. See this article for more details: https://adobe.ly/3DP9E5K

Save the Word Document in Compatibility Mode: If you're using a newer version of Word, saving the document in an older format (e.g., .doc instead of .docx) can sometimes resolve conversion issues. This approach may help maintain formatting consistency.

Update the OS and the Microsoft Suite with the latest available build, and restart the machine. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

@majella_1910

You posted to the Acrobat Reader forum. Are you using Acrobat Reader (free) or Adobe Acrobat pro?

Can you show screenshots of what you were seeing so we can better assist?
