Please try the steps below and see if that works.

• open PDF with Acrobat Reader DC
• Right click on the tool bar at top > Show page display tool > Fullscreen
• Go to Full screen mode > move your mouse over the text and select it and from the floating menu click on Hignlight text.

Right-click the page and select the Select Tool. Highlight the text you want to highlight and then right-click again and select Highlight Text.
