Tiff to pdf to word conversion

I created a pdf file from a Tiff file so I could edit and add text. When I tried to edit it, I could not and had to create a word document; However, when I did, the box in the original pdf changed to the letter D. Is there a way to get it to revert to a box?

Short answer, nope, not automatically

OCR is usually very hit and miss, and is expecting your copy to have letters, and it can only guess what grouping of letters a word is. In your case, the box is so close to the word "Return", it's assuming it is part of it, hence it read it as a letter D. You would have to add in the box manually (likely from Wingdings or other such Dingbat font)... not a hard thing at all.

Thank you, I figured that. Although tedious could be done; however, other images were also distorted, such as a bar scan and, I figured, would be something I could not replicate. Although I was able to add text to the document, which I originally wanted to do, I could not delete or correct anything. I am new to using Adobe. It's all a new learning experience for me.

This is something you should really rebuild in a proper program, like InDesign or Illustrator. Using the PDF of the TIFF would be useful to OCR the text in your scan so you don't have to retype as much, but it does have limitations for sure.
