One of my users is having problems were ever time they hit redact this document it completely gets rid of the tool bar options.  I have repaired the installed and updated to the latest version.  Plus I also reset the view panes and still have the issue.

Please try the following suggestions for Windows OS, and let us know if this fixes the issue for you.

Please note: Create a backup of the registry settings before making any changes. To create a backup, check this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-back-up-and-restore-the-registry-in-windows-855140ad-e318-2a13-2829-d428a2ab0692

    • Go to the registry location: "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\FeatureLockDown"
    • Right-click on the right blank space > select New > DWORD 32-bit value.
    • Rename it to:  bGenCoverPagesLabelStrings
    • Right click on the new value > Click Modify > add the value as ‘1’ (numeric one)

    Hi there

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. We are sorry for the trouble.

Have you started experiencing this issue recently after the update, or was it occurring earlier as well? What is the version of the Acrobat Application and the OS you are using? Go to Help > About Acrobat and make sure its updated to the latest version  26.001.21677 Planned update, Jun 17, 2026 go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once.

Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Try with a different PDF file and check.

Also share a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs for more clarity and further investigation.

We have users that are having the same issue with the disappearing tools. It appears to happen after the June 17th update. I was not having the issue, checked for updates and started having the issue. The work around right now is to disable new Acrobat in the view menu.
