Trying to eliminate an embedded watermark for personal use

I have proofs to an article that contains an embedded watermark or signature that I want to remove to read the file more easily. In the past I've used Preflight to do this. This time, Object Inspector does not return a font name and size, only this:

This is the maring I want to remove.

Any suggestions appreciated.
