I can't do it, Geek Squad couldn't do it, and your help support could not do it (yet).  Help?

Hi Jamesd,

I understand the situation, as described above you are not able to update the Adobe Acrobat Standard and getting the error 1722.

  • What is the operating system(OS) on your computer and its version?

This error occurs due to the missing update for universal C runtime in windows. You may try the following troubleshooting steps as bellow:

If that doesn't work,

  • Use windows update to update the OS automatically.
  • Once the update is installed, try Adobe Reader/Adobe Acrobat DC installation.

If that doesn't work,

  • Download visual c++ redistributable packages for the visual studio from Download Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 from Official Microsoft Download Center
  • If you are on a 64bit machine navigate to the folder C:\windows\syswow64 else navigate to C:\windows\system32
  • Search for the file msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll and rename both the files.
  • Double click the downloaded visual C++ redistributable package to install it, after the installation completes, check that msvcr120.dll and msvcp120.dll are installed back, once confirmed you can delete the files that you renamed earlier in the above step, do not delete the latest files.
  • Install Acrobat Reader/ Adobe Acrobat DC

I hope this will fix the issue, keep us updated with the results.

Regards

Amal

I have Windows 10 Home, 2018.

System is Intel Processor 5Y70 CPU @ 1.10GHz  1.30GHz

64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor

Touch Support with 10 Touch Points

As I am not terribly computer literate, I will ask Geek Squad to follow your instructions, and let you know in a day or two.  Thanks.
