Trying to put a link into pdf with "#" but acrobat keeps changing the symbol

Hi all,

I have a pdf which I am trying to place a link into on a certain text element. The problem I am facing is that the link url includes a "#" hash but when I save the PDF after applying the external URL link, acrobat changes the "#" into "%23" which then makes it the wrong URL.

Anyone know a way to get a link to with a hashmark to not be changed by Acrobat? Do I have to apply the link with an embedded javascript instead of using the embed external web link function in the acrobat editor?

If you're like me and are still using CS6 on an old PC, another soution is to use a free URL shortener like TinyURL or Bitly. As the problem is the mistranslation of symbols, TinyURL will provide an alias URL without symbols. It will then connect to your original URL in your browser, symbols intact.

I just tried it and it's working just fine... How are you creating the link, exactly?

I created the link in the editor of acrobat using the embed link tool. No matter what it kept switching it. I finally used bitly to make a link thru that and then it worked.

I found a lsew of other in the adobe community that had the same issue. Do a search under "hashtags and urls" and you'll see them.
