UI Customizations and Keyboard Shortcuts

Adobe is slowly driving me insane. Instead of creating a consistent interface with a reliable menu structure like everyone else, it feels like every version, on every system, and in every context has a completely different interface. In version 2024.002.20857, rather than aligning anything with the rest of the Creative Cloud, it seems necessary to do everything differently. The partly context-sensitive menu hierarchy has become so convoluted it’s overwhelming. Large parts are redundant, and others are unfindable. The preferences menu is huge and not even responsive. Why is part of every menu hidden or only accessible by scrolling?

A long-standing tradition of Acrobat is that every other day, you start re-selecting your favorite tools, only to start over with the next update. It’s always a delight! While there has been some attempt to manage the menus, the keyboard shortcuts were completely omitted. They cannot be customized, change unpredictably, and are not aligned with CC or Windows standards. For example, why are Ctrl+0 and Ctrl+1 used for zooming in and out instead of fitting and 100%?

Congratulations, Adobe. You’ve managed to make me dread even the sight of the splash screen. Oh, and opening files by double-clicking has been a gamble for years. Sometimes it works immediately, sometimes not at all, and sometimes only after 5 minutes. Drag & drop almost always works.
