Unable to change text on a document with form fields.

I am trying to change some text on a document with form fields. However, I keep getting the error message - "This document restricts some Adobe Acrobat features to allow for extended features in Adobe Acrobat Reader. To create a copy of the document that is not restricted, choose Menu > Save a copy". The problem is that there is no "Save a copy" option.... A similar post a few years ago suggested to print the document as Adobe PDF and then edit, but when I try that I lose the form fields. Help!

Disable the new Acrobat UI and you'll find this command. For future reference, you don't need to apply the Extended Reader Rights to your form, which is what is causing this issue.

Thanks for posting about the problems you're having editing the text in your PDF form. The error message indicates that the PDF is protected. Did you create the original form? If so, then see https://adobe.ly/45U4RdR for information on how to adjust the protections that were set on the document. Those restrictions can include the ability to print. ^JW

Thank you for the reply.  Yes, I created the original form and I will try this.
