Unable to combine pdf files

I have been combining pdf files in past no problem but now it won't combine any. I have unchecked the portfolio button. Now it tells me it is unable to combine some documents saying that because they were signed by me electronically they can't combine.  But I have been combining these before. It would be silly to have to print, and scan these documents just to combine them.. going backwards in technology!  Also, the signed docs are now showing as password protected but I never put a password on them. I don't even know what the password would be. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Maria,

Hope you are doing well and thank you for reaching out.

As you have mentioned above, you were able to combine the PDFs. It seems that you were combining them as a Portfolio.

If you have combined the signed files before, please check these files.

If the PDF is signed, it is not possible to combine that PDF with other PDFs or files. However, you may use the option to combine them as a portfolio. Please refer to the information provided in the following help document: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/create-customize-pdf-portfolios.html.

To your another issues, that the files are password protected. If you are downloading the files from  website, would you mind sharing link to that website. Are you downloading the same files that were downloaded before without password or it is just te same website and the files are different? Please confirm.

There is a possibility that those files are protected. However, we cannot comment without checking the files.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I replied to email but in case that doesn't work:

1. re: passwords: I did not put on a password... I don't even know how to do it. I just filled out a fillable form and saved it. Thus, there should be no password yet adobe keeps telling me all my docs are password protected. I filed the documents in court through an e-filing system. You cannot upload any password protected document. I cannot give you link because it only allows lawyers who are on case to access. That shouldn't matter because I created the docs and saved as pdf files before I uploaded to court.

2. signatures. These are not like a docusign signatures. They are just script typing on a fillable form so not really signatures like you would normally see. I used the adobe feature to sign but it just has my name in typed script. I have used this feature for over a year without any issue. And I can upload to court without any issues because they are regulaar pdf files.

Hey Maria,

Sorry for the delay in response.

If you experincine these issue with some particular documents, we will not be able comment onwhy the issue had occurred without checking the document.

Please check if the issue occurs with other files too. If yes, please share a other sample PDF that do not have official information. That will help us to investigate the issue.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I just downloaded each of these files from a court website where they are all pdf files and get a message that Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files. They are all pdf files? It also keeps telling me they are password protected but they are not! I have been using the combined files feature for a year without any issues.
