Unable to delete table lines after converting a Word document to PDF

I have a Word document containing a table, which I converted to PDF. In Adobe Acrobat, I want to remove some of the table lines so that, for example, only 2 rows remain instead of 5.

I can select the table lines. I can also move them up and down using the arrow keys, and I can even reduce their height until they are only about a pixel high. However, I cannot actually delete them.

Pressing the Delete key on my keyboard does nothing, and choosing Delete from the right-click menu also has no effect. The line remains in the document.

Is this expected behavior for tables that originated in Word?

Save yourself a lot of frustration and do it in Word, then create a new PDF file.

I had the same issue. Strangely, I was able to edit these lines normally before, and then in the middle of my work it suddenly stopped working. I don't know whether Adobe changed something, but I now have to remove these lines via Print Production -> Edit Object.

Does anyone know if Adobe has changed something here, or if there's a way to switch it back to the previous behavior?
