Unable to open password protected PDF in Acrobat Reader for iOS

I can open and unlock the document fine with the Mac version of Acrobat Reader, but the username and password fields are not selectable when I open the document on my iPad.  The document is a Python programming eBook for school.  Anyone have a similar issue?  If so, any suggestions?
