Unable to paste text in search field

In Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 2025.001.20693 64-bit)

In the search function, I am unable to paste text.  Typing text manually in the search field does work

 

The paste function (Ctrl + V) and right-click → Paste works in other programs.

Any idea's?

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. 

 

Would you mind sharing more details about the issue you are experiencing? Is this an issue with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check. 

 

What happens when you try to paste the text in the text fields? Do you get any error message? If yes, please share the screenshot of the same, also a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs would be very helpful for further investigation.

I don't know what happend, but as of yesterday it works again.

This usually happens when Acrobat’s search field gets restricted by a preference setting or a corrupted UI component. A few things you can try:

1. Restart Acrobat completely
Close all windows → exit from the system tray → reopen.
Sometimes the search panel locks up after long sessions.

2. Disable “Enable Protected Mode at startup” temporarily
Go to:
Edit → Preferences → Security (Enhanced)
Uncheck Protected Mode at startup, restart Acrobat, and test the search field.
(If it works, you can re-enable it afterward.)

3. Reset Acrobat’s preferences
Close Acrobat →
Navigate to:
%AppData%\Adobe\Acrobat
Rename the folder for your version (e.g., “Acrobat 2025”) to something like “Acrobat-Backup”.
Reopen Acrobat — it will rebuild fresh prefs.

4. Try the floating search window
Press Ctrl + Shift + F instead of the small search bar and see if paste works there.

5. Repair installation
Help → Repair Installation.
This fixes UI glitches like paste not working in specific fields.

If none of that helps, the issue is usually profile-specific, so creating a new Windows user profile just to test can confirm it.

Please update the application to the latest version 25.01.20813 from the help menu > check for updates and reboot the computer once and see if that works.

Thanks for your replay.

Unfortnunatly it didn't solve the issue.
Any other suggestions?
