Unable to save file as Word document

I have a 276 page PDF that was scanned as a black and white scan. I performed OCR on it using Adobe Acrobat. When I try to save it as a Word .docx file, I get the following error message: “Acrobat failed to send a DDE comment.” What is the meaning of this error?

Hello Jmt,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, you are getting an error message while converting a PDF file to Word, error: "Acrobat failed to send a DDE comment", is that correct?

Please check for any pending updates of Acrobat from help>check for updates, reboot the machine after installing any updates and see if this brings any difference.

You can also refer and try the solution from the following Adobe article Fatal error - Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server

You are correct; I am getting an error message while converting a PDF file to Word, error: "Acrobat failed to send a DDE comment.” No updates are available.

I am using Version 10.1.16 on Windows 10. I am able to save other PDFs to Word.

In the end, I was unable to figure out what was causing these issues. I opened the problematic PDF using Nuance Enterprise PDF Converter and was able to convert the file to Word without any errors.
