Undo/Redo missing in Combine Files toolbar

Hello everyone, 

I’m using Adobe Acrobat Pro 2026, and I noticed that the Combine Files toolbar doesn’t include Undo/Redo. When I deleted a page, the hamburger menu showed Undo, Redo, and Move, but all of them were greyed out.

Oddly, Ctrl + Z still works to undo the deletion, even though the UI says it’s unavailable.

I feel like I’m posting questions every other day with this new interface. Word is so much easier to use, and Acrobat’s Combine Files workflow feels inconsistent. Is this a known limitation or a bug?

    All I can offer then, is to emphasize in your classes that above all else, in not only Acrobat but in most any program on the Windows platform, that Ctrl+Z is your friend …

     

    That line always gets me a chuckle out of the class, and at least a couple of knowing nods of the head. It’s one of those lessons that’ll always stick with your students.

    I understand your frustrations with the new Acrobat interface. For what it’s worth, you’re far from alone with your frustrations here.

     

    I’ve been recommending to my students and clients that they familiarize themselves with the View>Disable/Enable New Acrobat menu command. It’s not so much that Adobe deleted features from its “New Acrobat” interface as it is they distributed them.

     

    Any time you can’t find a feature you used to have in Acrobat but can’t find in the application, I recommend you use that menu command to switch back to the “Old Acrobat” interface and you’ll likely find it’s still there. This is the only program I’ve ever worked with that not only offers different layouts between old and new interfaces, but different capabilities too. It’s maddening, and I agree it should be fixed. But as of now, it is not.

    I’m familiar with the View > Disable/Enable New Acrobat option and have been using it as well. The only concern I have is that someone here mentioned Adobe may not keep that toggle around permanently, and a few recent updates have already removed or limited it for some users.

    Since I’ll be teaching this class myself, I want to make sure I’m preparing students for what they’ll actually see going forward. Leaning on a toggle that might disappear doesn’t feel like a long‑term solution, even though it’s definitely helpful right now. You’re right that the features aren’t gone so much as moved, but the inconsistency between the two interfaces is exactly what makes this somewhat difficult to teach.

    I appreciate your perspective, and I agree Adobe needs to address this. For now, I’m trying to cover the workaround while also making sure students are ready if Adobe decides to retire the old interface entirely.
