If I uninstall Adobe Acrobat Pro, will it disable a previous paid version of Acrobat on my system? (specifically, Acrobat X Standard)

Correct answer try67

But you said earlier that if I uninstalled Acrobat Pro (DC), it would automatically disable Acrobat X Standard on my machine. No?

Sorry, I thought you asked if if would be a problem if you installed it, not if you uninstalled it. Uninstalling it should be fine.

If not, you'll need to run a new installation of Acrobat X. I hope you still have access to the installer...

Well, that's a rip. I have the Acrobat X disc and I suppose could reinstall it. As it is, I can't even tell pdfs to always open in Acrobat X--the search tool doesn't even find it. I have to launch X first and then open the file. I suppose I'm lucky that it even operates after I installed Pro a year ago. Their big price hike made it too pricey for my fairly limited use. Bet I'm not the only subscriber they lose. Thanks.

Yes.

TRY67, is there a way to get PDF files to default-open in Acrobat X Standard, which is fully functional on my machine, while the now non-functioning Acrobat Pro is still installed? I can't even find the files for X under Programs, unless it's the ones listed as Acrobat 10.

Thanks

I don't think so. You need to uninstall Acrobat Pro (which is Acrobat DC, I assume) and then you might be able to associate the PDF files with Acrobat X.
