Unique covers for booklet printing

Often I am asked to print booklets (10 at a time) They're all the same except for the cover, it has a unique number on it. I create the covers with data merge in InDesign to save time, but still have to attach each cover to the booklet and hit print. It's a super tedious process and I often miss 1-2. These booklets are folded and saddle stitched by the printer.

Is there a way to have Acrobat attach a uniqe page to every booklet or create 40 booklets that I just have to print? I'm looking to shave some time off of this monotonous project.

Thanks!

You can achieve it by doing the Mail Merge operation in Acrobat with a blank template of the cover page and a text field to hold the numbers. There's no built-in command to do it, but it can be done using a custom-made script, like this (paid-for) one I've developed: https://www.try67.com/tool/acrobat-mail-merge-and-email-pdf-files
