Question

Using the Compare files tool makes page navigation impossible

I’m using the Compare Files tool.

I selected two files, kept all settings as default, and pressed Compare.

A report was generated, with a list of differences to the right, all as expected.

As soon as I clicked on ‘Next change’, at the bottom of the screen I would see a label showing me what the difference was but the navigation would not be brought to that page. Selecting a change in the sidebar would also just select it, not have the document scroll down to it.

I then tried to manually go there: scrolling worked as a bouncing net, bringing me never beyond the half of the first page and always bouncing back to the top. Using the arrow buttons to navigate to the next page was also unresponsive. Nothing happened.

Any document not in the Compare Files tool work normally in both scrolling and page navigation.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Thank you!

    Hi there

Thank you for trying out the suggestions and we are sorry to hear that the issue still exists.

Please try to download the update patch manually here https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/ReleaseNotesDC/continuous/dccontinuousjune2026qfe2.html and reboot the device once the application updates.

If you still experience this issue, please share a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs via private message. Just click on my Profile icon and click on Send Message. Please mention the issue description in the subject for identification.

    This is all so frustrating.

I’m using the installer you provided. At a certain point it asks me ‘what copy of Acrobat would you like to update?’ and it opens the Open/Save dialogue on macOS with the Applications folder in it.

I navigate to the Acrobat DC folder and the options inside (Distiller, Acrobat, Uninstaller) are all greyed out. I cannot select them. I can only go back and at that point the installation fails.

This should not work like this and it cannot always be a ‘you-user’ problem…

    Hi there

Hope you are doing well, and thanks for reaching out. W ea re sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

Would you mind sharing more details as listed below:

    • Have you started experiencing this issue recently after the update, or was it occurring earlier as well? What version of Acrobat are you on? (Help > About Adobe Acrobat) and make sure its updated to the latest version  26.001.21677 Planned update, Jun 17, 2026 Go to Help > Check for updates and reboot the computer once and see if that works.

    • Are the two files you're comparing large (many pages or heavy with images/annotations)?

    • Are you on Windows or macOS, and are you using a touchpad, external mouse, or both?

Try clicking directly inside the document pane first: When the Compare report loads, the active focus may be sitting on the sidebar or the overlay toolbar rather than the document itself. Click once directly on the document content area (not the sidebar, not the toolbar), and then try scrolling or using Next change again and check it that works.

Also try to switch the view mode, in the Compare results view, look for the view toggle at the top of the report (it may show Side by Side or Single Document mode). Try switching between them and see if that makes any difference.

If nothing works, please share a small video recording of the steps you are taking and the issue as it occurs, along with the PDF files in question, so we can try to replicate the issue in-house and isolate it for the fix.

My version is 2026.001.21662 but when I check for updates I get this:

However, my internet connection is perfectly fine.

The two documents are small, 6 pages each.

I am on macOS, 26.5, and I am using the Magic Trackpad but, on other documents, Acrobat is perfectly functional.

Clicking in the document pane has no further effect. I can scroll, the page moves a bit but then bounces back as if it was chained.

Clicking on ‘Next change’ has no effect. By the way, while I was doing this, Acrobat crashed and I sent a report.

Changing view produces the following results:

    • Old file: scrolling perfectly
    • New file: no scrolling, just bouncing back
    • Side by side: as ‘New file’

I cannot share the PDF files, they are contracts. If an engineer or someone from the support team wants to get in touch privately I can send a video recording with confidentiality.

In any case, I hope I can at least update the app.

    Thank you
