Question

Video on my document won't play

I have downloaded a document with 4 video links to my Adobe Reader. I am using an Android phone. I can  click on these links to bring up the video page ,but my problem is that when I press "Play" the video seems to take forever to load, and will not play. I don't see any option to delete browser cache on Adobe Reader.

Can anyone advise? I want to play & view these videos.

Thank you.

I ran into this issue before embedded videos simply wouldn’t play in Reader. A helpful thread here suggests checking Acrobat’s multimedia settings: go to Edit → Preferences → Multimedia (Legacy) and ensure the correct media player is selected.

After adjusting that, the video played fine for me. Hope this helps!

Hello Eoin,

Many thanks for your reply. I have Adobe Reader Free. I can't find the
Settings function you mention. The Settings I find only deals with the page
view. And the Edit function only refers me to an Adobe Premium
subscription. Which I'm willing to purchase (€18.00 per month) in order to
find these functions, but do you think I really need to?

Thanks for your help mate,

Kevin O'Donovan.

Hello @Leverie

I hope you are doing well, and we apologize for the delayed response and the trouble.

In the free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader, the Settings menu is limited and primarily focused on viewing preferences:

  • On Windows, go to the hamburger menu (≡) in the top left → Preferences.
  • On macOS, go to Adobe Acrobat Reader > Preferences in the top menu bar.
  • These settings include options for Read ModeFull Screen Mode, and basic navigation tools. See this article for more information: https://adobe.ly/47OEebV

If you only see page view options, you’re likely in a simplified interface or using the mobile version, which has fewer settings exposed.

If you wish to upgrade to an Acrobat Desktop subscription, please refer to this article for plan and pricing, along with the available features: https://adobe.ly/4p20mpG

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
