View background color in PDF but do not print background color or image.

In order to do that you need to define that color as a non-printing background layer. Did you create the file? Do you have a copy of it without the background? If so, and you have Acrobat, then you can do it using the Add Background tool. Under Appearance Options make sure to un-tick the box next to "Show when printing".
